Nechama Dina Eliyahu; Grade 9
This IRP presentation is based off of the ever famous Oliver Twist by Charles Dickens. The theme I found in the book was “obstacles”, So how can I better represent this theme than an obstacle course? I first set up three chairs, which the three participants weaved around, which is symbolic of how Oliver needed to “weave” his way through the “chair”man so that he would not be put to death for asking for extra gruel to eat. Next, I put a stack of text books for the participants to jump over, since at that time, Oliver was taken in by Mr. Brownlow and learned how to read. Finally, I put a blindfold over their heads and spun them around as they struggled to find the end of the race (the wall), because at the end of the book, Oliver changed through guardians like a ball being thrown, as he tried to find his way to Mr. Brownlow and company.
